The Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) resolved the drinking water shortage encountered by fans on the opening day of the second Test between India and New Zealand. On Friday, arrangements for approximately 1 lakh litres of RO water in 20-litre cans were put in place to enhance fan experience.
An MCA official informed PTI that 3,800 bottles, each holding 20 litres, were made available for Friday's match to ensure fans were hydrated, while standby provisions were organized in case of sudden demand. The shortage on Thursday led to fans expressing dissatisfaction through slogans.
MCA's secretary Kamlesh Pisal publicly apologized for the inconvenience, promising smooth operations in the future. Volunteers and security re-shuffled water supplies following a logistical delay, a proactive measure ensuring the continued supply of free drinking water during major cricket events.
