A Delhi court has dealt a stringent 20-year prison sentence to a driver found guilty of repeatedly raping a minor girl in 2018. The convict, who was responsible for transporting the child, has been convicted under the POCSO Act and Section 376 AB of the IPC.

The case, heard by Additional Sessions Judge Balwinder Singh, highlighted the driver's gross betrayal of trust placed in him by the victim's family. The court noted that the child was only 3.5 years old at the time of the offenses, which occurred over several months.

In addition to the prison term, the convict has been fined Rs 50,000, with a compensation of Rs 1.2 lakh awarded to the victim. The court emphasized the severity of the crime, indicating the social and moral breach committed by the accused.
