Ex-MLA Bhanudas Murkute Arrested Over Sexual Assault Allegations

Former Maharashtra MLA Bhanudas Murkute was arrested after being accused of sexually assaulting a woman multiple times since 2019. A case was filed under various IPC sections based on the complaint. Bhanudas Murkute, a former Maharashtra MLA, was arrested in Ahilyanagar district following allegations of sexual assault against a woman since 2019.

According to the police, the incident led to a case being filed under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, involving aggravated rape by a public servant.

Murkute, who has represented Shrirampur in the state assembly and has political ties with Congress and Janata Dal, was taken into custody from his residence and admitted to a private hospital.
