Mumbai court has denied bail to Vicky Gupta, one of the shooters involved in firing shots outside Bollywood actor Salman Khan's residence, in what authorities believe was a planned attempt to kill the actor. The special judge, BD Shelke, delivered the decision on October 18, dismissing Gupta's bail plea.
According to the court, the shooting stemmed from instructions given by Anmol Bishnoi, brother of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi. He instructed Gupta and his associate Sagar Pal to carry out the act near Khan's Bandra residence in April. The attack was said to target Khan while he was on the first-floor gallery of his house.
Despite Gupta's lack of prior criminal records, the court upheld charges under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA). The court cited a confessional statement and the serious nature of the offense as grounds for denying bail, amid concerns about the potential for repeat criminal behavior.
