In a significant drug bust, customs officials at the Indira Gandhi International Airport have seized hydrophobic weed worth over Rs 15 crore from a woman passenger. The interception was carried out on Sunday following a tip-off which led officers to check the baggage of a transit passenger traveling from Bangkok to Paris.
Upon scanning the luggage, officials noticed suspicious content and called in the Customs K9 squad. The sniffer dog confirmed the presence of a narcotic substance. After opening the bags in the passenger's presence, authorities uncovered 15.046 kg of hydrophobic weed, which has been seized under the NDPS Act, 1985.
The passenger remains in detention for further questioning while investigations into the case proceed. With a street value of Rs 15.04 crore, the bust marks a noteworthy interception in the fight against international drug trafficking.
