Drone Warfare Intensifies: Kyiv Under Attack
Russia launched drone attacks on Kyiv for the second straight night, causing damage to residential structures and injuries to civilians. Ukrainian air defenses shot down 59 out of 116 drones, but some reached populated areas, damaging buildings and power lines. The situation adds to the ongoing war tensions.
Russia escalated its aerial assault on Kyiv, as waves of drones targeted the Ukrainian capital for the second consecutive night, officials reported on Monday. The attacks damaged residential buildings and caused at least one civilian injury.
The Ukrainian military claimed to have intercepted 59 out of 116 Russian drones, although over 45 managed to evade defense systems, potentially impacting Ukrainian soil. Serhiy Popko, Kyiv's military chief, warned of the continual threat, underscoring that Russia's air offensive showed no signs of abating.
While most drones aimed at the capital were neutralized, falling debris injured a civilian and inflicted structural damage to buildings in several districts, according to Kyiv's Mayor Vitali Klitschko. The air raid alarm persisted for over five hours, disrupting the city's peace before it was declared safe.
