N Chandrababu Naidu, the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, announced that his government would clear Rs 763 crore in pending bills for the police department and hire 6,100 constables. This announcement was made during the Police Commemoration Day observance at Indira Gandhi Municipal Stadium in Vijayawada.
Naidu criticized the previous YSRCP government, led by YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, for leaving significant unpaid bills and allegedly using the police for political purposes. He assured that the phased repayment plan is a priority and is symbolic of his administration's commitment to law enforcement.
The Chief Minister highlighted the necessity for modern technology in policing and promised to prioritize police welfare with a yearly commitment of Rs 20 crore. Additionally, he pledged to construct a facility in Amaravati for future Police Commemoration Day events.
