An official from Pakistan's Counter Terrorism Department was fatally shot by unknown assailants in the volatile Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. The incident unfolded as Sub Inspector Sher Ali exited a mosque in Bannu district after prayers, police sources confirmed.
Police have initiated a search operation to apprehend the attackers following the shooting, which also resulted in an injury to another individual. The attack underscores the ongoing unrest in the region.
On the same day, suspected militants launched an attack on a Frontier Corps checkpoint in Mamund, Bajaur district. The assault, which involved rocket fire, was countered from the Jangzay checkpoint. Fortunately, no casualties were reported in that incident.
