Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has launched the third and final phase of Mission Basundhara, an ambitious program designed to grant land rights to the state's indigenous communities. This flagship initiative underscores the government's commitment to protecting Assam's unique cultural and geographical heritage.

From the outset, Mission Basundhara aimed to address land rights for indigenous communities, an effort not previously undertaken in the 75 years since India's independence. It received an overwhelming response with over 8 lakh applications processed in its first phase alone, proving its necessity and success.

The third edition will further streamline processes by digitizing land-related services, introducing new supportive rules, and reducing premium rates for urban dwellers. Additionally, it brings transparency by catering to priority groups and eliminating the need for ancestral proof for certain communities, thereby ensuring swift justice and integration.
