A court has handed life sentences to five individuals, including three brothers, for a murder driven by election rivalry, police revealed on Sunday.

Additional District Judge Ram Kripal announced the verdict on Saturday, convicting Ramesh Yadav, Janardan Yadav, Suresh Yadav, Anil Yadav, and Ram Vilas. Each convict faces a fine of Rs 18,500, according to Superintendent of Police Vikrant Vir.

Prosecutors stated that Ramnath Yadav and Kanta Yadav were shot dead on October 17, 2015, in Ramgarh village for their political support in panchayat elections. The case was filed following Ramnath's death on Rajesh Yadav's complaint.
