The Singapore government has launched an investigation into Kokila Annamalai, an Indian-origin activist, following her failure to amend incorrect social media posts concerning the execution of drug-related prisoners.
The Ministry of Home Affairs stated that Annamalai alleged that executions occur arbitrarily, without due legal process, and claimed the State avoids proving drug trafficking charges, both of which are false.
In response, the government issued targeted correction directions to Meta Platforms and X, requiring them to notify users of the misinformation and provide links to a fact-checking article.
