The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has identified Sanjay Roy, a former Kolkata Police civic volunteer, as the primary suspect in the disturbing case of the rape and murder of a woman doctor at RG Kar Hospital.
According to the charge sheet, compelling evidence such as DNA and blood samples, closed-circuit television footage, and mobile phone records point to Roy's involvement. The charge sheet states that his DNA was found on the victim's body, and injuries on his body align with signs of the victim's resistance.
The CBI also highlighted potential obstruction from two local officials, who allegedly attempted to suppress evidence. Their role in the wider conspiracy remains under investigation. The CBI is expected to submit a supplementary report following the conclusion of further inquiries.
