On Tuesday, Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh highlighted potential challenges stemming from recent immigration notifications by neighboring states Nagaland and Mizoram. He noted that these developments, which include set cut-off years for determining legal settlers, could impact Manipur.
The state of Mizoram has declared that individuals arriving post-1951 are barred from land purchases, while Nagaland's criteria are based on precursors such as 1963 for some communities and 1940 for others. Singh emphasized the need for heightened vigilance to prevent illegal entries into Manipur.
Addressing media outlets, Singh also commented on Haryana's election outcomes, expressing optimism about the BJP's prospects and crediting Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership for potential electoral successes.
