KYIV—A major drone assault by Russian forces targeted 15 Ukrainian regions overnight, inflicting considerable damage on energy infrastructure, according to authorities.

Ukraine's air force successfully shot down 78 out of the 105 drones involved, with electronic countermeasures possibly affecting another 23. The strikes caused disruptions in the Kyiv, Odesa, and Ivano-Frankivsk regions, with outages impacting railways in southern Odesa.

Russia stated its objective was to incapacitate Ukrainian energy facilities aiding military operations. Meanwhile, Ukraine utilized U.S.-supplied ATACMS missiles against Russian radar to hinder their military effectiveness.
