In a tragic incident on Wednesday, militants opened fire on a police van in the restive northwest region of Pakistan, resulting in the death of a child and injuries to another passerby, according to police reports.
The attack occurred in the Tank district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, and targeted the vehicle of the Station House Officer (SHO). The child, an innocent bystander, was caught in the ensuing gunfight, a police official stated.
Authorities confirmed that one armed militant was killed in the retaliatory fire by police. An injured passerby has been transported to a nearby hospital, and police have initiated a search operation to apprehend the remaining attackers who fled the scene.
