PDP president Mehbooba Mufti criticized the Centre over the detention of climate activist Sonam Wangchuk and 120 other Ladakhis. The incident occurred at the Singhu border, where they were marching to Delhi demanding Sixth Schedule status for Ladakh.
Mufti expressed her outrage by saying that even the fundamental right to protest has been 'snatched' from the people. 'We stand in solidarity with the people of Ladakh,' she wrote on X. Wangchuk's 'Delhi Chalo Padyatra', initiated from Leh a month ago, demands legislative protection for the region.
The Delhi Police has heightened security around Bawana Police Station, where Wangchuk is currently held. His detention has drawn widespread condemnation from opposition party leaders.
