Police Nab Cow Slaughter Suspect After Heated Encounter
A criminal, wanted for cow slaughter, was arrested after an encounter with police in which he sustained a leg injury. Acting on a tip-off, the police cornered Mahtab Alam Qureishi in the Sadar area, who then opened fire. One accomplice escaped. Qureishi is now in stable condition at a hospital.

A criminal wanted in connection with a cow slaughter case was arrested on Monday following a police encounter. The suspect, identified as Mahtab Alam Qureishi, sustained a bullet injury in his leg during the exchange of gunfire, police reported.
''Acting on a tip-off, a police team surrounded Mahtab Alam Qureishi in the Sadar area. In an attempt to evade arrest, Qureishi opened fire on law enforcement. The police retaliated, resulting in Qureishi's leg injury,'' stated Additional Superintendent of Police Akhilesh Singh.
Qureishi faces charges under the Uttar Pradesh Prevention of Cow Slaughter Act, registered at the Sadar police station. While Qureishi was apprehended, one of his accomplices managed to escape the scene. The injured suspect has been admitted to a hospital where his condition is stable.
