Uttar Pradesh Minister Arrested Over Election Code Violation
Uttar Pradesh Cabinet minister Anil Kumar surrendered in a special court related to the violation of the Model Code of Conduct during the 2022 assembly elections. Kumar was taken into custody for more than three hours before being released on bail. Charges include holding an unauthorized meeting and disobedience to a public servant’s order.

Uttar Pradesh Cabinet minister Anil Kumar surrendered in a special court here, facing accusations of violating the Model Code of Conduct during the 2022 assembly elections. The RLD MLA was taken into custody and held for over three hours before being released on bail.
Kumar's lawyer, Kiran Pal, stated that the special court, which handles cases involving MPs and MLAs, reserved its order on Kumar's recall warrant and bail application. Special Judge Devendra Singh Fauzdar later ordered his release upon furnishing two sureties of Rs 25,000 each.
According to police, Kumar and others held an unauthorized meeting at Khampur village on February 6, 2022. Charges against them include wearing a garb used by a public servant with fraudulent intent, negligent and malignant acts likely to spread infectious diseases, and disobedience to an order duly promulgated by a public servant. Kumar serves as the Cabinet minister for Science and Technology and represents the Purqazi assembly constituency of Muzaffarnagar district.
