The Congress party on Wednesday launched a scathing attack on the ruling BJP over the tragic killing of a six-year-old girl student in Gujarat's Dahod district. The young girl was murdered by her school principal after she resisted his attempt to sexually molest her, according to allegations from the Congress.
The police initiated an investigation following the discovery of the child's body inside the school compound in Singvad taluka last Thursday. Superintendent of Police, Rajdeepsinh Zala, stated that the school principal, Govind Nat, smothered the girl after she fended off his inappropriate advances.
During a press conference at the AICC headquarters, Gujarat Congress president Shaktisinh Gohil condemned the increasing incidents of crimes against women and girls in Gujarat. Gohil accused the accused of being a propagandist supporting BJP-RSS ideology and lamented the silence of the government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the issue. He further criticized the BJP for focusing on its membership drive rather than addressing the deteriorating law and order situation.
