Union Minister Kiren Rijiju clarified misconceptions about the Waqf (Amendment) Bill on Monday, indicating that the Joint Parliamentary Committee received an unprecedented 1.2 crore email responses concerning the legislation.

Sources revealed that the parliamentary panel, chaired by BJP leader Jagadambika Pal, had also obtained 75,000 documented responses. Introduced in Lok Sabha on August 8, the bill was sent to the JPC after intense debate in the house.

Rijiju criticized the spread of misleading information alleging that Waqf properties would be confiscated by the government. He assured that the bill's objective is to enhance the management of Waqf properties and highlighted support from several Muslim organizations.
