A court has framed charges of rape, unnatural offences, and criminal intimidation against self-styled godman Daati Maharaj and his brothers, Ashok and Arjun.

'Order on charge passed and charges framed against accused persons accordingly,' stated the online daily status of Additional Sessions Judge Neha.

The court dismissed charges against Daati Maharaj's other brother, Anil.

Following the framing of charges, the accused pleaded not guilty and requested a trial.

The court has scheduled the submission of prosecution evidence for October 18, 2023.

The charges were based on a complaint filed by a disciple at the Fatehpur Beri police station in South Delhi in June 2018, leading to an FIR for alleged rape, unnatural sex, and common intention.

Despite initial police investigations, the case was later transferred to the CBI, which filed supplementary charges in 2020.

The victim's counsel criticized the delay, stating that it undermines justice and emboldens the accused.

The victim also faces threats, yet the court has not provided police protection for her.
