Six individuals were apprehended in connection with an attack on two Army officers and the alleged rape of a woman near Mhow, Madhya Pradesh, as confirmed by a police official on Friday.
The suspects, identified as Rohit Girwal (23), Sandeep Wariya (18), Sachin Makwana (25), Anil Baror (27), Pawan Bansunia (23) and Ritesh Bhabhar (25), were arrested following a search operation. Rewards had been announced for their capture.
The incident transpired near Jam Gate, a tourist location about 30 km from Mhow's military cantonment, on the night of September 10-11. Police intervention led to the registration of a case under various legal provisions, including gang rape and extortion. As investigations continue, the police have denied social media rumors about the victims' connections through a dating app.
