In a significant judicial development, Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav lauded the Supreme Court's decision to grant bail to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, referring to it as a 'victory of the Constitution'.
Yadav, the former chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, also praised Kejriwal for his popular and public welfare work, while castigating the BJP for allegedly misusing constitutional provisions for political gains.
The Supreme Court's bench, comprising Justices Surya Kant and Ujjal Bhuyan, provided Kejriwal bail in the CBI's corruption case related to the excise policy 'scam'. The court highlighted that prolonged incarceration would equate to an unjust deprivation of liberty.
