The Delhi High Court is set to announce its verdict on the bail pleas of the jailed co-owners of a coaching centre basement in Old Rajinder Nagar, where three civil services aspirants tragically drowned in July.

Justice Dinesh Kumar Sharma is expected to deliver the verdict at 4 pm on Friday, according to the high court's notification. The order had been reserved on Thursday after hearings from both sides.

The aspirants—Shreya Yadav from Uttar Pradesh, Tanya Soni from Telangana, and Nevin Delvin from Kerala—lost their lives when the basement of Rau's IAS Study Circle flooded following heavy rainfall on July 27. The co-owners, Parvinder Singh, Tajinder Singh, Harvinder Singh, and Sarbjit Singh, argue that as landlords, they had rented out the basement and had no role in the circumstances leading to the deaths.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has opposed their bail, stating that the investigation is still in its initial stages. They insist that the accused should not be granted bail until all independent witnesses have been examined. The high court transferred the case from Delhi Police to the CBI for a thorough investigation under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which includes a charge of culpable homicide not amounting to murder.
