The Haryana cabinet has recommended to Governor Bandaru Dattatreya the dissolution of the state Assembly, aiming to avoid summoning the House before the six-month deadline since the last session.
The formal proposal, approved on Wednesday, now awaits the governor's consent. According to Article 174 (2) (b) of the Indian Constitution, the state governor is empowered to dissolve the legislative assembly.
The current Vidhan Sabha's term ends on November 3, with upcoming polls set for October 5 and results due on October 8. This move seeks to avert any constitutional crisis.
