The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell by 98.2 points, or 0.24%, starting the day at 40638.76. The S&P 500 experienced a slight dip, shedding 0.9 point, or 0.02%, to open at 5496.42.
Conversely, the Nasdaq Composite showed an uptick, rising by 35.5 points, or 0.21%, to commence trading at 17061.406.
