The CBI has raised serious doubts about the forensic report involving the rape and murder of a postgraduate medic at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata. The investigative agency plans to send the samples to AIIMS for further verification.
Solicitor General Tushar Mehta informed a Supreme Court bench led by Chief Justice D Y Chandrachud that the medical report indicated a homicidal death with evidence of forceful penetration and sexual assault. He added that injury marks were found on the victim's semi-nude body.
The court reviewed the investigation report in a sealed cover and requested a fresh status update. Concurrently, Mehta highlighted the issue of accommodation for CISF personnel, which the apex court directed the West Bengal government to address immediately.
