In a startling discovery, a routine traffic check in Moti Nagar, west Delhi, led to the seizure of 500 sniper rifle bullets, police reported on Monday.

Traffic police attempted to stop a motorcycle on Saturday night, but the rider sped away, sparking a chase. The suspect abandoned the vehicle near a traffic stop and fled the scene, according to an officer familiar with the case.

A search of the motorcycle revealed a bag containing 10 boxes with 500 live cartridges of 7.62 calibre. Authorities have registered an FIR under the Arms Act and formed multiple teams to locate the suspect. 'The recovery of such bullets is alarming,' remarked another senior officer, noting their use in high-powered rifles. The police are examining CCTV footage to track the rider's route.
