In the early hours of Sunday, Assam Police successfully apprehended and pushed back five Bangladeshi infiltrators, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced. This latest action brings the total number of deportees this month to 15, marking a continued crackdown on illegal entry.

Chief Minister Sarma shared on social media platform X that the infiltrators, identified as Mastabis Rahman, Asma Bibi, Abani Saddar, Lima Saddar, and Sumaya Akhtar, were intercepted by a vigilant state police force. Just last week, ten Bangladeshi nationals were also apprehended and repatriated, highlighting the ongoing struggle against illegal immigration.

Sarma noted that intensified border vigilance has led to the identification and deportation of over 50 infiltrators since August, amid escalating political instability in Bangladesh. The Border Security Force (BSF) and Assam Police have increased their efforts to secure the 1,885-km-long Indo-Bangladesh border, ensuring robust defenses are in place along the international boundary.
