The Delhi Police have deported a Bangladeshi mother and her son who had been residing illegally in southwest Delhi since 2005. Identified as Nazma Khan and her 22-year-old son Naim Khan, the duo entered India via the West Bengal border, said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southwest), Surendra Choudhary.
The mother-son duo was living in the area of Katwaria Sarai, where Nazma was employed as a domestic worker. A police patrol on December 29 led to Naim's interception near Shastri Market, and following interrogation, Nazma was also detained the next day. Both were subsequently handed over to the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) and deported to Bangladesh.
In a related incident, Mohammad Akhtar Sheikh, another Bangladeshi national, was arrested for illegal stay after a previous drug-related arrest. A resident of Kochaghata, Sheikh had entered India through West Bengal in 2004 and was found without valid documents near Sarojini Nagar railway station, resulting in fresh charges under the Foreigners Act.
