A 24-year-old jeweller in Thane district, Maharashtra, was allegedly assaulted by a neighbouring couple and their son following a dispute over water leakage, police reported on Sunday.

The incident occurred on Friday at Kamatghar in Bhiwandi, where the jeweller's shop occupies the ground floor and his residence is on the second floor. The confrontation began when water leaked from his residence into the accused's house, leading to an alleged physical attack and verbal abuse.

One of the accused reportedly struck the jeweller on the head with a wooden stick, causing injury. Two of his employees who attempted to intervene were also assaulted. A case has been registered against the three accused under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, and an investigation is currently underway.
