Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Gandhi, launched a strong critique against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP-led government on Saturday. This comes in the wake of the police encounter of Mangesh Yadav, a wanted criminal in Sultanpur, Uttar Pradesh.
Gandhi highlighted that the government's act of publicly respecting the Constitution is merely a facade, as it continues to violate these very principles. Mangesh Yadav, involved in a significant heist, was killed during an operation by the Uttar Pradesh Police's Special Task Force.
Demanding fair investigations into numerous police encounters in the state, Gandhi accused that BJP-ruled states frequently undermine the rule of law. He questioned the silence and lack of accountability on part of the central government regarding these actions.
