In a significant breakthrough against narcotics trafficking, law enforcement agencies in Jammu and Kashmir have arrested two suspected drug peddlers. Umesh Kumar Sahu from Chhattisgarh was intercepted at Kallar Chowk checkpoint on the Jammu-Poonch national highway on Saturday, leading to the seizure of nine kilograms of narcotics.

In a separate incident, Sunil Kumar alias 'Punjabi' was apprehended at Badyal Morh in the R S Pura area of Jammu with 1.76 grams of weed, 60 grams of cannabis, and over Rs 2.08 lakh in cash. Both individuals have been booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, and investigations are ongoing, according to a police spokesperson.

The arrests highlight the continuing efforts of the police to curb drug trafficking in the region. Further operations are expected as part of a broader strategy to dismantle narcotics networks.
