Recent Israeli military operations in Gaza have resulted in the deaths of at least 61 people within a mere 48 hours, according to local medics. This escalation comes as Israeli forces continue to clash with Hamas-led militants in the region.
Despite various diplomatic attempts over the last eleven months, a ceasefire deal remains unattainable. The conflict has led to significant casualties and disruptions, with a reported Israeli airstrike on the Halima al-Sa'diyya school compound killing eight people and wounding 15. The Israeli military claimed the strike targeted a Hamas command center, although Hamas denies utilizing civilian infrastructure for military purposes.
Additional fatalities occurred in Gaza City, with reports of strikes killing five more individuals. The armed wings of Hamas, Islamic Jihad, and Fatah have combated Israeli troops using anti-tank rockets, mortars, and bombs. The deadlock persists, as both sides blame each other for the failure to reach a ceasefire through mediation led by Qatar, Egypt, and the United States.
