Raksha Rajya Mantri Shri Sanjay Seth inaugurated a Job Fair for Ex-Servicemen (ESM) in Ranchi on 6th September 2024. Organized by the Directorate General of Resettlement under the Department of Ex-Servicemen Welfare, Ministry of Defence, the event aimed to connect veterans seeking re-employment with prospective employers. The fair saw an overwhelming response, with over 1,028 ex-servicemen from the Army, Navy, and Air Force registering for job opportunities.

Forty-two companies participated in the event, offering 763 job vacancies and over 200 entrepreneurial opportunities. Seventeen ex-servicemen were hired on the spot, with five receiving token amounts to join immediately. The remaining candidates, who were interviewed and screened, are expected to secure positions ranging from Senior Supervisors and Managers to Strategic Planners and Project Directors.

The event proved mutually beneficial, providing ex-servicemen a platform to demonstrate the technical and administrative skills they honed during their service, while corporations had the opportunity to hire disciplined and well-trained veterans. In addition, various companies presented entrepreneurship models during the fair.

The event was attended by key officials, including Dr. Niten Chandra, Secretary of the Department of Ex-Servicemen Welfare, Lt Gen RC Tiwari, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Army Command, and Maj Gen SBK Singh, Director General of Resettlement, along with other senior representatives from the Ministry of Defence and the Armed Forces.
