The Border Security Force (BSF) has called on its Bangladeshi counterpart, the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), to intensify efforts to prevent illegal immigration into India after the political upheaval in Bangladesh. This appeal was made public by the BSF on Friday.

The BSF emphasized its commitment to maintaining the integrity of the 4,096-km international boundary and ensuring the safety of border communities. Since August 12, the BSF and BGB have convened 722 meetings at various levels, reflecting the importance of their coordination.

According to a BSF statement, both forces have executed 1,367 coordinated patrols in vulnerable border areas. BGB officials have been briefed to stop illegal infiltrations, and they assured to take measures for the safety of Indian citizens and minority communities in Bangladesh. The two forces continue to communicate in real-time on operational matters, with oversight from a special committee formed by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) and led by the ADG of the BSF's eastern command.
