The Delhi government has launched a verification campaign for its financial assistance scheme targeting women in distress following complaints of irregularities. The initiative led by a six-member committee aims to scrutinize and validate the beneficiaries.

As per government officials, the women and child development department formed the committee to establish guidelines and design questionnaires in a bid to organize a meticulous verification drive for the program's 3.8 lakh recipients.

Encompassing widowed, divorced, separated, and destitute women who receive Rs 2,500 monthly financial aid, the 'women in distress' category will undergo validation through fieldwork by Anganwadi workers, applying both digital and manual methods.
