The situation in Jainoor town in Kumuram Bheem Asifabad district remained peaceful on Thursday, a day after tribal organizations' protests against an autorickshaw driver's alleged attempt to rape and murder a tribal woman triggered communal tension, leading authorities to impose a curfew.

Opposition BRS and BJP criticized the Congress government over the incident. The BJP accused the government of covering up the matter by casting it as a communal issue.

A senior police official told PTI that the situation is peaceful and under control, with additional forces, including Rapid Action Force (RAF) personnel, conducting a flag march. Prohibitory orders under Section 163 Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) in Jainoor mandal will continue, with decisions on lifting or extending them being made based on the situation.

Prohibitory orders were also imposed in neighboring Adilabad district after calls for rallies to protest the incident. Senior police officials are monitoring the law and order situation, with special teams formed to investigate and arrest those involved in arson and violence, according to the police.

A bandh call by tribal organizations on Wednesday resulted in property damage and arson, following the alleged sexual assault and attempted murder of a 45-year-old tribal woman by a man from another community on August 31. Based on her statement, the accused was arrested on charges of sexual assault, attempt to murder, and under SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act sections.

State Women and Child Welfare Minister Danasari Anasuya, known as Seethakka, met the victim's family, ensured the government's support, and provided financial assistance. The BJP's Mahila Morcha confronted Seethakka at the hospital, alleging the government's delay and cover-up. They demanded an independent investigation and capital punishment for the culprit.

Political clashes continued, with BJP and BRS leaders accusing each other of failure and cover-up. The National Commission for Scheduled Tribes called for advanced medical treatment for the victim and a report from Telangana's DGP.

Hyderabad police questioned Konatham Dileep, former Telangana Digital Media director, for allegedly reposting inciting videos on social media related to the Jainoor incident. BRS leader K T Rama Rao criticized CM Revanth Reddy on 'X' for the 'illegal' arrest.
