In an alarming turn of events, ten people lost their lives due to rain-related incidents across Uttar Pradesh in the past 24 hours, as confirmed by the state's relief department on Thursday.

'Given the recent heavy rains, districts experiencing excess rainfall have been put under round-the-clock surveillance. Flood PAC/SDRF/NDRF teams have been mobilized as required and are on standby mode,' stated state relief commissioner GS Naveen Kumar.

Among the casualties, two individuals in Bhadohi were struck by lightning, and another person drowned, according to the relief department. Additional fatalities were reported from Sonbhadra, Unnao, Fatehpur, Hamirpur, Varanasi, Sant Kabir Nagar, Pratapgarh, and Raebareli districts.

Uttar Pradesh recorded an average rainfall of 110.4 mm over the last 24 hours. Of the state's 75 districts, 27 experienced excess rainfall, with Chitrakoot district being the most affected, recording 33.8 mm of rain, according to the relief department.
