Six Arrested in Odisha for SBI Bank Loan Fraud
The Economic Offences Wing of Odisha Police has arrested six individuals for a Rs 16.71 crore loan fraud at SBI branches in Bhubaneswar. The accused impersonated Phonepe Pvt. Ltd employees to secure the loans between November 2022 and October 2023. Mobile phones with incriminating messages were seized.

The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Odisha Police has apprehended six individuals for their alleged role in a State Bank of India (SBI) loan fraud scheme, an official disclosed on Thursday. Those arrested include Anirban Patnaik, Anupama Dash, Tophan Rout, Satyaban Rout, Tukuna Mallick, and Feroz Khan, according to the official.
According to EOW officials, the accused secured loans totaling Rs 16.71 crore from the SBI branches at Jaydev Vihar, Patia, Raghunathpur, and Jharpada in Bhubaneswar. They allegedly impersonated employees of PhonePe Pvt. Ltd. to obtain these loans between November 2022 and October 2023.
Authorities have confiscated multiple mobile phones from the suspects, which contain messages related to the fraudulent activities.
