The Supreme Court reserved its ruling on Thursday regarding Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's petitions seeking bail and challenging his arrest by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) concerning the alleged excise policy scam.
A bench led by Justices Surya Kant and Ujjal Bhuyan heard detailed arguments from Additional Solicitor General S V Raju, representing the CBI, and senior advocate Abhishek Singhvi, who appeared for Kejriwal. 'Thank you for the assistance. Judgment reserved,' announced the bench after the conclusion of the arguments.
Kejriwal, who faces accusations related to corruption and irregularities in the formulation and execution of Delhi's excise policy, filed two separate petitions. In August, the Delhi High Court upheld his arrest, deeming it legally justified by the CBI's demonstration of potential witness influence by the AAP chief. The policy was revoked in 2022 following a CBI probe ordered by the Delhi lieutenant governor.
