The CBI has registered an FIR against former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh and others, accusing them of conspiring to frame top BJP leaders in a false case in 2020, officials confirmed on Wednesday.
This development comes after a two-year preliminary enquiry initiated by a pen drive handed over to the then Maharashtra Assembly Speaker by Devendra Fadnavis, who was in opposition at the time.
The pen drive reportedly contains videos showing Special Public Prosecutor Pravin Pandit Chavan and Deshmukh conspiring to frame BJP leader Girish Mahajan, currently a minister, in false cases.
