Russian President Vladimir Putin received a red carpet welcome on Tuesday during his state visit to Mongolia, despite an International Criminal Court (ICC) arrest warrant against him, which drew criticism from Ukraine.
Putin was greeted by his Mongolian counterpart, Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh, with ceremonial guards and local children offering flowers in Ulaanbaatar. Ukraine condemned Mongolia's failure to arrest Putin, calling it a setback for justice. The U.S. also voiced its disapproval, urging Mongolia to uphold international law.
Despite the ICC's allegations of war crimes against Putin, he emphasized enhancing bilateral trade and economic cooperation, notably in the context of the Power of Siberia 2 gas pipeline project to China.
