Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has placed the removal of encroachments on lakes and 'nalas' (drains) at the top of his administration's agenda, emphasizing the need to curb the severe flooding caused by such illegal constructions.
During a review meeting in Mahabubabad district, Reddy instructed officials to draft comprehensive reports on encroachments across the state. He highlighted the urgency of addressing this issue with concrete measures, treating it as a special action plan.
The Chief Minister stressed that illegal constructions on waterbodies significantly contribute to flooding, calling it an inexcusable crime. The state has established the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Assets Protection Agency (HYDRA) to tackle this problem, and Reddy has vowed to act against encroachers, including public representatives and influential individuals.
