In a focused effort to enhance operational efficiency and reduce costs, the leadership of Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL), the corporate entity of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant, came together today to pledge their commitment to the "Zero Demurrage Campaign." The pledge ceremony, led by Shri Atul Bhatt, CMD of RINL, took place at the ED (Works) Conference Hall and included the participation of Shri GVN Prasad, Director (Commercial), CGM (Works)-I/c, senior officials, Heads of Departments, and representatives of various trade unions.

The campaign marks a significant step towards cost reduction and achieving cash profits through increased production and operational efficiency. The focus is on addressing the challenges posed by higher Rake Retention Time (RRT), a major factor in operational costs. The pledge to reduce RRT and achieve "Zero Demurrage" reflects the organization’s commitment to boosting productivity and securing a brighter future for the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant.

In his address, Shri Atul Bhatt emphasized the financial impact of demurrage and the critical importance of the campaign. He stated, "The financial implications of demurrage are substantial, and it is imperative that we address this issue with utmost seriousness. By pledging today, we are not only committing ourselves to a critical target but also fostering a culture of accountability, trust, and collaboration within our organization."

Shri Bhatt urged the RINL team to focus on reducing both fixed and variable costs while increasing production to achieve cash profits. He expressed confidence in RINL's highly skilled and dedicated workforce, stating that with collective efforts, the company is poised to move towards profitability. As part of RINL's turnaround plan, production will be maximized from two Blast Furnaces to ramp up output.

The "Zero Demurrage Campaign" is the first step in RINL management's broader strategy to achieve profitability and ensure a sustainable future for the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant.
