President Volodymyr Zelenskiy dismissed Ukraine's Air Force Commander Mykola Oleshchuk on Friday, as confirmed by a presidential decree.
The announcement came a day after an F-16 jet crash claimed the life of its pilot while repelling a major Russian strike. Addressing the nation, President Zelenskiy expressed gratitude to military pilots and emphasized the need to strengthen command levels, though he did not specify the reason for the dismissal.
According to Ukraine's General Staff, General Lieutenant Anatoliy Kryvonozhka will temporarily assume the role of Air Force commander. The Ukrainian military, aided by U.S. partners, is investigating the crash, considering factors from pilot error to mechanical failure.
