Sainu Munshi Jetti, known by his alias Vikash, a notorious Naxalite, was apprehended in Chhattisgarh's Bijapur district on Thursday. The 35-year-old insurgent was involved in over three dozen incidents of Maoist violence and held a cumulative bounty of Rs 24 lakh across two states.
Police captured Vikash near Bhatpalli village, within Bhairamgarh police station limits, while he was being transported to Jagdalpur city for medical treatment. The operation was conducted by the Chhattisgarh Armed Force's 13/E battalion and local police. During his arrest, Rs 80,000 in cash, a Maoist uniform, Naxal literature, pamphlets, notebooks, and medicines were confiscated.
According to a senior police official, Vikash had strong ties with another insurgent, Dileep Bedja, who had arranged for his medical treatment and provided him with financial support. Vikash, who served as an Aheri Dalam Divisional Committee Member (DVCM) under the South Gadchiroli Division of the banned Communist Party of India (Maoist), was subsequently produced before a special court for NIA cases and sent to prison.
