Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu announced on Wednesday that dependents of over 1,400 government employees who died in harness would be offered jobs on compassionate grounds within the next nine months.

Addressing the state assembly, Sukhu revealed that 1,415 cases of jobs on compassionate grounds are currently pending. He noted that his government has already provided jobs to 180 individuals under this policy over the past 20 months.

Furthermore, a cabinet sub-committee led by Education Minister Rohit Thakur will submit a report within six months to consider the feasibility of offering class III jobs on compassionate grounds. The Chief Minister also highlighted that only class IV jobs were allotted during the previous BJP government's tenure, while the Leader of the Opposition, Jai Ram Thakur, stated that the BJP had provided such jobs to 4,500 people during its term.
