Hezbollah and Israel Clash in Unprecedented Border Conflict
Hezbollah launched rockets and drones at Israel, leading to a massive counter-attack by Israel's military. The clashes, among the largest in recent months, resulted in casualties on both sides. Despite calls for de-escalation, tensions remain high, risking further regional conflict involving major powers like Iran and the United States.
Early Sunday morning, Hezbollah unleashed a barrage of rockets and drones at Israel. In response, Israel's military launched a counter-attack with approximately 100 jets targeting Lebanon. These hostilities mark one of the most significant clashes in over ten months of border warfare.
By evening, warning sirens blared in central Israel as another projectile was detected from the Gaza Strip. The escalation, starting in tandem with the ongoing Gaza conflict, risks widening to include Hezbollah's sponsor, Iran, and Israel's key ally, the United States.
Despite three confirmed deaths in Lebanon and one in Israel, both sides showed a reluctant willingness to avoid further escalation. Hezbollah's leader, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, indicated that the barrage was retaliation for the assassination of a senior commander and highlighted the possibility of future strikes.
