Assam Police is grappling with a serious shortage of personnel and vehicles, official documents reveal. Key vacancies exist at various levels, including ADGP, IG, DIG, and SP.
The police force is currently operating with just over 70% of its required vehicle fleet, according to assessments from the Bureau of Police Research and Development (BPR&D).
Records highlight that 12,485 posts, translating to 15.64% of the total sanctioned strength, are currently unfilled. The force also requires 7,800 vehicles but has only 5,543, leading to operational challenges.
